I have typed up math vocabulary words to create a math wall. The images are large enough to be printed on one sheet of paper. You can also edit the settings and print them smaller on one page if you wish. You would print mini-versions of them and make a student reference sheet as well.
There are a total of 56 math vocabulary words with kid friendly definitions and examples.
I would put theses up on the wall and refer to them throughout the year. I would make it possible for me to take them down, so I could put the vocabulary words that we are focusing on on the front white board. Perhaps put velcro on them for easy removal.
The vocabulary words listed are below:
product, groups of, quotient, partitioned equally, multiplication, division, equal groups, arrays, equations, unknown, operation, factor, strategies, properties, mental computation, addend, sum, difference, place value, round, equal parts, fraction, equal distance, equivalent, denominator, numerator, compare, estimate, time, minute, hour, elapsed time, volume, mass, standard units, metric units, picture graph, bar graph, line plot, attribute, perimeter, plane figure, area, polygon, quadrilateral, 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, triangle, pentagon, hexagon, trapezoid, circle, cylinder, sphere
I am taking a 3-5 math coach position this upcoming school year, so expect updates with vocabulary words for grades 4 and 5.
