  1. Hi Ms. Santillana. You have an amazing blog. I love all your ideas. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I wanted to ask you if you have read the book called, “The Book Whisperer.” It’s great!

    • Hi! Thanks for the kind comments :) I have not read the book, but have read so many great reviews on it at amazon.com and on teacher’s blogs. It is one of those books that I’ve been wanting to get, but haven’t gotten around to it. I ordered several math books this summer to freshen up on math, because I’m going to be a 3-5 math coach this upcoming year. One book that I have been wanting to buy and finally did is the Notebook Know-How – Strategies for the Writer’s Notebook. Thanks for sharing your recommendation! It is definitely on my list to buy :D

  2. You are awesome! We use the same curriculum, and I am so e4xcited about your resources. I have been printing like crazy! Thank you so much for your time, effort, and great ideas!

    • Hi! I use about 5 programs altogether :) word, PowerPoint, a screencapture program, photoshop, and the PDF viewer

      Photoshop is more flexible
      PowerPoint is the easiest
I live word for tables :)

  3. Have you removed your owl set? I keep trying to download it, but it won’t show up. They are so cute. Thank you for any information you can provide.

  4. These Daily 5 posters are too cute! I downloaded the first set :) Just curious–would you be willing to make an alternate version of the “Respond to Text” poster for me to use in my class? I’m using “Work on Writing” instead and would love for a poster to go with that! :) Thank you for the download!

  5. These posters are too cute! I would love to use them on my Daily Five bulletin board, but I already bought paper that house a boarder around the outside. Is there any way to tell me how you got the black swirly boarder around the words? Thanks!

  6. I am teaching fourth grade literacy and social studies this year. It will be my first year implementing the “Daily Five”. I chose a sports theme for my classroom and was SO happy when I found your Sports Theme Daily Five cards! This will compliment my classroom theme so nicely! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! :)

  7. I love your Hollywood Theme Daily 5 posters! Are you going to add Work on Writing poster? Thank you so much for sharing such cute ideas!!!

  8. THANK you so much for these cards. We have been looking for a good rotation system for our classroom and these will be perfect! Thanks for sharing!

  9. Great work! How would you set these up (what function do the smaller cards with the catagories on them serve)? We have just started the Daily 5 in our classrooms and the other teachers will love this.

    • Hey, the small cards are if you want to give students the choice to pick where they want to go for the day. I do not do it this way, but Daily 5 is big on choice.
What I do is use the big headers ‘Computers, Teacher, Listen to Reading’ and place a sheet of paper with the names of the students in each group. I then rotate through the three stations in one day. I complete reading stations 3 times a week :)

  10. Hello, I am interested in your daily 5 packet ( sports theme). Is there a way in which I can buy it and have the opportunity to edit it. I teach in a dual immersion school and Spanish is the primary language therefore I would have to translate them to best fit my classroom and students.
